Professor Wilhelm introduced the relationship between interpersonal abilities and psychopathy during the academic forum. He stated that individuals who suffer from psychopathy have different levels of inabilities such as failure in emotion processing, lack of motivation, impulsivity, flat affect and anti-social behavior. At present, 28% of the world populations have symptoms of psychopathy. Professor Wilhelm studied subjects with 70% of them were incarcerated in forensic institutions and asked them to complete the several tasks, such as taking general intelligence measures, some emotion related measures and some self-report measures. Based on the data, Professor Wilhelm concluded that most psychopathy patients are low in intelligence; whereas, the results didn’t show difference between patients and normal people in emotion perception and imitation. Overall, his study suggested that, emotion processing was proved not to be the key factor of psychopathy. Nevertheless, integrating multiple variables during scientific assessment and analysis is crucial for scientific researches.
